In 2016 we opened an accredited companion animal hospital, and in 2021 we held a capital campaign which helped to update the smaller off-leash dog area attached to our building.

Thanks to our wonderful volunteer dog walkers, our dogs get to enjoy a big outdoor leash free park (bottom of the property) and the wooded trails on a regular basis. Our dog pods at the back of the building exit onto a grass area and a trail system on the property. Not to mention, a big glass window to meet their forever family for the first time! They provide ample space for our cats to move around, play and climb onto platforms. Our spacious “cat condos” are different from the traditional cat cages one would typically see in a shelter. It features a winding hallway through the building, leading to our adoption atrium. The Kitchener Waterloo Animal Centre was built in 1981 and is located on Riverbend Drive in Kitchener. Surrender services are by appointment only. ***We are closed for all statutory and civic holidays. **Both centres are closed the last Wednesday of each month from 9am-1pm for staff training. We also operate a High-Quality High-Volume Spay Neuter Clinic for Cats, located in the Stratford Perth Animal Centre. The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth operates two animal centres in Southern Ontario - one in Kitchener and one in Stratford.
